What an eventful 12 days in hospital. Again.
This is getting old, right. I seem to have an annual appointment with this place and I'm not sure that I like how it's going to end.
From the moment you are wheeled into a ward, you want to get out of there. Of course, you appreciate the help you're getting, and you mainly want to survive.
It would, however, be a lie to say that there are no other benefits to being there.
So, here are some things I miss about being in hospital:
1. Unnecessary tea at 4am. Yes. It broke the days perfectly for me.
2. No stubbed toes due to lack of bed legs.
3. No need to switch on the light to go to the bathroom at night. It's always daytime inside.
4. Being told to "just relax." Hehehe. Yessss.
5. Prepared meals (minus the terrible quality custard)
6. Smiles and giggles from strangers whose job was to stab me daily. Happily doing so too.
7. No bra. No wardrobe decisions.
8. No power cut.
9. Having a bell to call for help.
10. Not making the bed myself, but having a perfectly made bed.
11. Learning that humans are beautiful on X/Twitter and everywhere.
12. Blaming cortisone injections for my cravings.
13. An adjustable bed.

There are, of course, things that I don't miss about being in hospital.
1. Fake air. Could taste it.
2. Jaundiced custard. Won't forgive this. EVER!
3. No dogs allowed to visit. Insane rule.
4. Fuzzy brain and hallucinations.
5. Everyone hovering over you like you're on a braai stand getting seasoned. It also feels a bit coffiny.
6. Sad friends and family feigning smiles for you.
7. Realising that someone has died. Hard not to think you're next. See point 5.
8. Not being allowed to sock-glide on those perfect floors at night. Wasted entertainment choice for patients!
9. Needing a hug almost every hour. Not getting a hug at least once a day.
10. Feeling useless.
Hospitals are terrible places to be in.
Hospitals are amazing places to be in.
There we are faced with both fears and hope.
There we may live or die.
